F3C

Discover F3C – The Thrill of Precision Helicopter Flying

F3C is the international class of radio-controlled helicopter aerobatics governed by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), where pilots fly precision manoeuvres that showcase incredible skill. In F3C, every move, from delicate hovers to sweeping aerobatics, is performed with finesse and accuracy — it’s spectacular to watch, but incredibly addictive and satisfying once you’ve given it a try.

So… What Is F3C?

F3C is all about smooth, controlled and accurate helicopter flying. Pilots fly a set of manoeuvres that include gentle hovering, and a combination of rolls, loops, flips and pirouettes resulting in flowing aerobatics. It’s not about speed or wild 3D tricks — it’s about calm, precise flying that looks elegant.

For 2026 Season, there are 3 different schedules to try. The Preliminary ( P Schedule), Semi-Final (SF Schedule) and FInal (F Schedule). Each schedule has an increased level of difficulty and complexity to explore.

Euro Heli Series & World Cup Competitions

A Growing, Friendly International Community

A few years ago, we noticed that the number of pilots competing in F3C was slowly declining. Despite lots of effort and organisation, only a small group of pilots were taking part. We soon realised this wasn’t just a UK issue — our friends in Belgium, the Netherlands and France were experiencing the same thing.

Rather than letting that discourage us, we decided to work together. In 2014, by combining forces, the Euro Heli Series was born.

Since then, the series has gone from strength to strength. It has grown every year and now consists of FAI-registered World Cup events held across Europe. Most importantly, the weekends are relaxed, friendly and great fun — and over time we’ve refined the logistics to keep costs as low as possible.

One of the real highlights is the chance to meet and fly alongside F3C pilots from other countries, sharing knowledge, experience and a common passion for helicopter flying.

Don’t Let “World Cup” Put You Off

We know that terms like FAI and World Cup can sound intimidating — but they really shouldn’t be.

World Cup competitions in F3C were only introduced in 2016 and are designed to be inclusive and accessible. The pilots taking part range from highly experienced international competitors, through mid-field pilots developing their skills, right down to those who are just starting out in international competition.

For younger pilots especially, World Cups are a fantastic way to experience international competition in a supportive environment, flying alongside current and former World and European Champions. It’s an inspiring and enjoyable way to learn, improve and, for some, take the first steps toward representing their country at World or Continental Championships.

Supporting F3C at Every Level

While this international focus has meant fewer F3C events are currently run in the UK, the AHA remains fully committed to promoting all disciplines of helicopter flying, including F3C.

If you’re interested in giving F3C a try — whether as a beginner, returning pilot or simply someone curious to learn more — we would be delighted to help. With enough interest, we are more than happy to organise events, training opportunities or informal flying days to support new pilots and help the discipline continue to grow.
